Rep. Mazzochi Asks for Help for Children in Ukraine

Westmont, IL… Following up on previously successful drive efforts, State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is partnering with Hummingbird Pediatric Therapies & Hummingbird Children’s Academy for a toy drive for the children in Ukraine.

“Heartbreakingly, according to UNICEF, one in two children in Ukraine have been displaced as a result of the Russian invasion,” Rep. Mazzochi said. “These kids are losing something so precious; their childhoods. We want to give them a little comfort to help them stay kids so they do not lose hope in their future or humankind.”

Unlike previous drives, Rep. Mazzochi’s office will NOT serve as a drop off location. Instead, there are two Hummingbird offices that are accepting the items; 750 Pasquinelli Drive Suite 204 in Westmont and 9018 Heritage Pkwy Suite 600 in Woodridge.

“I’ve been touched by the outpouring from the community in support for Ukraine and the inspiration it’s generated in so many,” Rep. Mazzochi said. “This drive was sparked by a group of local nannies who reached out to the director of Hummingbird, who then got in contact with my office to help further coordinate the effort and shipping. I think this truly highlights the power of our community and what we can do when we work together.”

Donors are asked to drop off small toys such as small stuffed animals, coloring books, children’s books, early learning games, puzzles, crayons, baby rattles, teething toys, etc. The items must be new and not used. Donations will be accepted until Monday, April 4th.
