On October 29th, State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is once again sponsoring a drive for community members looking to help save lives and stay ahead of COVID.
Rep. Mazzochi is once again bringing Versiti to the district to gather much needed blood donations. Free COVID and COVID Antibody testing will also be available for those that are interested thanks to Rep. Mazzochi’s partnership with IndiviDx. The event will take place Friday, October 29th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Westmont Centre in Westmont.
“Both elements of this event were a big hit last month; we were able to secure a lot of donations and many people appreciated the COVID screenings,” Rep. Mazzochi explained. “I’m bringing back both Versiti and IndiviDx to the district because these services are important for our community.”
New sources of blood drives are important as many colleges, private businesses, and other sources of blood donations have stopped hosting drives since March 2020. The need for blood is so urgent, especially for particular types, that Versiti is now giving a $10 e-gift card to existing A-, B-, O+ and O- donors who sign up to donate in advance and put CANDY in their notes. All NEW donors will get a $25 e-gift card.
Walk-ins are welcome, but as a COVID-19 precaution and to save time, making an appointment for blood donation is strongly preferred. Interested blood donors can make an appointment to donate by clicking here or by contacting Rep. Mazzochi’s office at (630) 852-8633.
Rep. Mazzochi stressed, “While I want as many people as possible to help us in saving lives by donating blood, you do NOT need to donate blood in order to get this free COVID testing service.”
