Rep. Mazzochi Statement on Election Omnibus Bill

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) has released the following statement in response to the passage of an election omnibus bill, Senate Bill 825:

“The elections omnibus bill, the third passed by the General Assembly in a calendar year, once again shows that Illinois Democrats care more about election power than election integrity. Their slapdash efforts to change the rules yet again leave gaping holes in the statute that will only lead to more confusion in the lead-up to election day.

The bill moves the primary date because Democrats won’t make the congressional map until they get the census data, but despite Republican calls to wait for such data to draw legislative and Supreme Court maps as well, they went ahead and passed maps, which in their own words was for political advantage, to shore up their power.

It creates a mail-in ballot list where you can check in any time you like, but you can never leave–another invitation to vote fraud and voting from the cemetery. I’ve filed legislation numerous times to ensure the deceased are removed from our voter rolls. For the third time Democrats have chosen to keep this loophole open and not include it in the omnibus.

And when it comes to use and abuse of campaign funds, the Illinois Supreme Court recently confirmed the Illinois Auditor General illegally misused his campaign funds.  A competent General Assembly would demand the Auditor General’s resignation.  Instead, they legalized his misuse of campaign funds.

Only in Illinois.”
