In light of Illinois unprecedented job loss over the past few months and the onset of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) open enrollment period, State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is partnering with Illinois Department of Insurance for an online townhall discussing Illinoisans insurance options on Thursday, October 22nd at 7 p.m.
“Many people get their insurance through their jobs and the economic shutdown has put so many out of work, leaving them wondering where and how they can get health insurance,” Rep. Mazzochi explained. “This informative townhall will answer many questions people have about insurance plans and what kind of coverage they should look for.”
Rep. Mazzochi will be joined by representatives from Get Covered Illinois and the Departments of Insurance (DOI) and Healthcare and Family Services (DHFS) to help residents understand all available options for health insurance coverage. The open enrollment period for federal health insurance runs from November 1st through December 15th every year for health insurance coverage beginning the following year. However, you can still access the insurance marketplace outside of this enrollment period if you lose coverage through your employer, if you undergo major family changes, or if you experience some other “Qualifying Life Event”. Whether or not you qualify will be one of the many topics covered in the townhall.
The townhall will be streamed live on Rep. Mazzochi’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/illinoishouse47, and will be available afterwards at RepMazzochi.com. Rep. Mazzochi will be accepting questions during the webinar via Facebook, but participants are encouraged to submit questions ahead of time by email to Mazzochi@ilhousegop.org.
